Lily Allen’s Latest Nail Look
Richmond, British Columbia-based nail tech Denise “Dee” Escalante recently had the honor of doing Lily Allen’s latest set of dazzling nails. The English singer stopped by (albeit under a tight time constraint) to indulge in a bold nail look before the Vancouver leg of her Sheezus tour.
The nail appointment began with nail tech Winnie Huang of The Rawr Shop in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, removing Allen’s previous set of twerking nail art done by AstroWifey.
Escalante had the task of crafting a new flashy set for the nail icon. “Based on Lily’s past nail art manicure, I assumed that she was open to everything,” says Escalante, who was happy to find out that Allen was down for anything. The design Escalante chose is based on Allen’s personality and style, which she defines as fun and vibrant. Allen had the vision of wearing gems beneath the free edge, so Huang had the job of gluing the rhinestones on the underside of the nail.
“We felt so comfortable around her. It was almost like a couple of friends doing nails, having a good time,” says Huang, who is actually great friends with Escalante. Both nail artists placed in the top 24 of last year’s NAILS Next Top Nail Artist Competition. This set reflects not only Allen’s love of nail art, but the dynamic style of both artists as well.
